Cardinal

Animal Medicine #22

I had an unusual experience today when this little bird came forward with a message.  The thought, “I live in Australia – I’ve never seen a Cardinal, so how can I write about it?” popped right into my head.  Why is that strange?  Because I’ve never seen a buffalo or a penguin either, yet that concept never entered my mind when I wrote the messages they brought to us.  The reason that particular thought came into being is that Cardinal is a great assistant when it comes to fighting against insecurities.  And that fight is something I am very familiar with.

Cardinal tells us to never give up when it comes to doing the work you need to do in order to achieve your goals – even when that work makes your world feel wobbly.  Cardinal brings reassurance and a reminder that you do have the strength and ability to complete your task, especially if you are dealing with ancestral karma, family issue or other problems within the home.

Cardinal helps you to recognise and utilize your hidden talents: your inner strength, adaptability, and stamina that can be such an inspiration to others.  He is like a little ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.

It’s time to gather your self-confidence, recognize your uniqueness, and live your life to it’s fullest potential.  You have a bright and warm personality and a deep connection with the Energies of the Cosmos.  Use your intuition, be prepared for adventure, be bold and brave and go take whatever action is needed to bring forward your best possible potential.

Camel

Animal Medicine #19

I once rode a camel in Tunisia, and I know why they are called “Ships of the Desert.”   I was definitely sea-sick during that ride and absolutely sure I was going to pitch completely over-board when this wonderful lady first stood up.  The back end went up first and just as I was squealing and thinking that I was going to do a face-plant in the sand, the front end also, majestically, rose up.  Me, sitting on her back, was far less majestic especially as she turned her head and blew me a raspberry!  This camel was laughing at me!

I have carefully kept my distance ever since.

The Ship of the Desert represents the illusion of life.  The beliefs we hold that we project into our world as mirage.  Is the mirage truth, something nebulous we are aiming for, or something that is hidden over the horizon and only brought into our field by the sorcery of science or magick?

Whatever the illusion is, when camel pays us a call we need to recognise that we are on, or about to start, a long journey.  That journey is more than likely not going to be in the physical world, but in the emotional and/or spiritual realms.  You are at a point where you really need to focus, because the illusion is showing us that your focus is wavering or even lost.

You may be wondering where this journey is going to take you.  It is an internal journey that leads to empowerment, and the recognition that you are the leader in your life.  You make the choices, and you take the responsibility for the actions you choose.  This journey is to help you to understand yourself, and gain clarity for the direction you want to travel through life.

With camel as a companion, you know that you are well-equipped for that journey you are about to undertake, however harsh it may become, and preparation is going to be very beneficial.  Camel thrives in difficult terrains and can give us many tips for our survival, and the biggest one is to preserve your energy.  Some beliefs state that we come into this world with a finite amount of life energy, and when we have used it all up, we die.  But we can preserve that energy, maintain it, and enrich it.  To do that we need to look to the health our of bodies from the physical, emotional, and spiritual standpoints.  This journey requires that you provide good nutrition, appropriate exercise, and rest in meditation and in sleep.  To discover whether or not you are using your energy wisely – a good place to look into, is how much your ego is involved in your every day activities.  Do you even recognise when ego is involved?

The reason for this journey is to look deep within at the burdens you carry.  What fears do you hold, and is it now time to release them?  What is your Truth?  Do you have people around to you support you, and what do you need from them in that support?  Seek within for times of independence, of when you stood in your strength, and when you persevered in your beliefs even when your focus was challenged.

This journey, if you are willing to undertake it, can be difficult, but can provide a huge growth opportunity.

Baboon

Animal Medicine #12

There’s a 94% genetic similarity between human and baboon, and as I began my research for this article I had the rather humorous thought that the other 6% is probably related to the amount of hair that one or the other of these species carries!  Certainly it was a common joke in my family that my dad was descended from apes!

It is very possible to see our humanity in this magnificent animal.  He is a social creature who takes family – and especially parenting and defending against danger – very seriously.  He is filled with curiosity; and enjoys the challenge of learning and exploring new things.

When baboon comes into your field, you need to have a good look at what is happening within your personal life and in the world around you.  There could be something that is pulling you beyond your comfort zone.  Take care not to be carried away.  Stay grounded and take time to seek your place of sanctuary within meditation.  That place of peace and security is exactly the right place to be within as you look at what is happening in your life that need to be resolved.

Baboon will help you.  He is comfortable in any situation and is not afraid to show his emotions.   Baboon will cry loudly when needed and doesn’t care who is watching.  Sometimes that can be the most courageous thing you can do.

Baboon is considered as the being who holds the greatest wisdom in the animal kingdom, and his message is for us to always be responsible for our choices in life.  Our choices and the actions we take are the very things that shape our lives.  Be aware of how much you share with others and remember that you might be judged by these things.  Don’t be afraid to let your personality and love of family shine out, and remember that there is strength in allowing others to see your emotions.

Gargoyle

Animal Medicine

I grew up in England where any building under 500 years old is still considered as ‘fairly new’.  My brother-in-law was custodian of an ancient castle on a remote island, and one of the country’s greatest Cathedrals was close by.  Roman ruins, stone circles, Iron Age kilns… all a part of my early life.

Yet when I think of Gargoyles, I think of the Kiwi Haka.  The war dance that is possibly best known as performed by the All Blacks rugby team!  If you haven’t seen a Māori Haka – you definitely need to hop over to You Tube and watch it!

The Haka is fearsome.  The men pull faces, stick their tongues out, slap their bodies and stamp their feet in a way that tells you that they are very connected to the Earth and to Spirit.  The Haka is not just a war dance, but is also a celebration and welcome to others.  Above all it is a display of a tribes Pride, Strength and Unity.

The Haka invokes protection of the Tribe.  And that is what Gargoyle represents to me.  Protection.  Like the Māori warriors, Gargoyles have fearsome faces which are meant to scare off evil spirits.

Gargoyle sits high on the roof of buildings and therefore has an unobstructed view of the world, and represent a connection with your Higher Self.  Gargoyle can see the things that you cannot observe.  You may need to adjust your point of view about something.  If your perspective is different to someone else’s, it might be a good time to widen your horizons to a broader view.  Gargoyle is also connected to the Throat Chakra which means he is able to help you to express yourself, especially if you are facing a traumatic event in your life.

In a very practical way, Gargoyles are beings of purification.  In the physical world, they work with the element of water – they act as spouts to redirect water away from the building to protect it from erosion.  In the spiritual world, they assist in clearing away the obstacles on your journey.  Winged Gargoyles are also associated with the element of air:  with intellect, creativity, ideas, and dreams.

When Gargoyle enters your life, it’s time to look at what needs to be changed in your life – and especially the perspective through which you view your self and the world around you.

Snake

Animal Medicine #10

I live in the Far North of Queensland in an area I call “The land of Cassowaries, Crocodiles and all kinds of bitey things.”  It is also a land of snakes.  Australia is home to 21 of the 25 most toxic snakes in the world, but we are all pretty aware of snake habitats (like your shoes if you leave them outside, or even in the filter box of your swimming pool) and we tend to leave them alone, giving them a wide and respectful berth until they can be safely captured and released away from human habitats.  In fact, we all co-exist fairly well and there are very few snake bite fatalities.

Snake energy is worthy of much respect, being a creature that travels along the shadowed-line of balance between opposites – between positive and negative, beneficial and harmful.  She represents transformation, regeneration, self-confidence and strength.  She also represents deception, betrayal, and poisonous influence.  When snake crosses your path, it is time to sit up and take notice.

Snake represents our Life Force energy.  When she comes into your life, either in reality or in a dream, you can recognise that you are transitioning between one aspect of your journey and another.  Something is coming to an end and something new is forming.  If the journey has been, or is about to become, difficult, snake lets us know that this is a part of our growth journey and that you will navigate that part of your journey with strength.

Snake has long been associated with healing.  From the ancient Greeks through to our modern society, two snakes entwined around a rod is understood as a symbol of the medical professions.

She is a primal, earthen energy that speaks of birth, re-birth and eternity.   The ouroboros – the snake eating its own tail – has been known from before the 13th century BC as an expression of the unity of all things material and spiritual; that all things continue through the cycles of destruction and re-creation.  The symbol I show next to my name on these readings was given to me by my Guides and  is an ancient variation of the ouroboros showing its connection to Earth.

Snake is powerful energy and only you can know if that energy refers to positive or negative aspects of your life.  Whichever that may be, you are about to enter, or are just moving forward from a period of transformation and regeneration.  Remember – snake represents our life force energy.  Take control wisely.

Ants

In this Collective Consciousness the individuals work together.  They are industrious, determined, and strong.  With stamina and patience they can build or bring down things that are far greater than they each could as individuals.  They work together for the good of all members of their community.  If one gets injured others will tend to it.  Others will carry his load.  They work diligently.  They understand that they have to put in the hard yakka – the hard work – if they want to succeed.  And believe me, they want to succeed and they are successful.  There are an estimated 1.4 million ants on this planet for every human who lives here!

They have one goal – the ongoing survival and success of their community.  They are social creatures and they know that all things will come with hard work, time, and conviction and that they can overcome any obstacle if they all work for that one goal.  So they do.  They all work for that one goal – survival of their species.

I could be talking about humans.  We all like to think we have all these attributes, and we certainly do – except one.  We too are strong, most of us will work hard at what we need to do to survive as individuals and family groups.  A lot of us will help others who are in need.  We can overcome amazingly hard challenges.  We are social creatures.  The biggest difference between us and the animals I am talking about, is the one major step that we have not yet fully gained in our evolution – we don’t work together for the survival of our species.  We don’t work together for the survival of our home, Earth.

I think it’s fair to say that there are very few humans on this planet who do not really dislike ants.  Some folk may have a fascination about how their societies work, but generally we fear them.  They invade our homes.  They can EAT our homes – certainly they can here in Queensland.  They invade our homes and try to take over our food sources, our water.  They get into our kitchen cupboards, our pets drinking bowls, our beds for goodness sake!  They swarm, they try to set up new colonies in the wall behind your sofa – and we wage war on them.  Most people I talk with are capture-and-release people, but Ants and Cockroaches (especially the big flying ones)  – well there’s no capture and release for these – these are killed!!!  Swatted.  Sprayed with Tea-Tree oil, boiling water poured over their home, our home surrounded with a moat of diatomaceous earth…..  When they attack our homes It Is WAR!

Yet, other than their physical form, in many ways they actually epitomise what we, humans, are aiming for.  We talk about aiming for Oneness.  For everyone to understand that they are each a small part of something that is far bigger than us.  That we are all connected.  That if something hurts our planet, our trees, our oceans, our family, we too – every one of us – are hurt.  All of us.  Including, ultimately, those that do the harm.

Other than our physical form we have so many things in common with ants.  So many similarities and this, I believe, is why we really do not like them.  They could have been the dominant species of this planet if they were bigger.  We won that race because we have opposable thumbs and because we don’t follow that path of Oneness – that society that has only one mind, however much some of us strive towards it.  It is our ability to think individually that allowed us to become dominant.  Though I suspect that ants would challenge that thought if we could communicate with them!

That ability to think individually is our greatest gift and our greatest burden.  I suspect that ants don’t have Eureka moments; I suspect that an individual ant couldn’t think up something as complicated as a motor car.  Or Electricity.  Or the wheel.  It’s probably just as well because if they could – we, humans, wouldn’t be here now.  And I think – just my personal opinion – that it is this very ancient threat to our species that makes us hate them so much; the potential of similarity in everything other than physical form makes them too alike, too close to us for comfort.

  • Ants’ message is to remind us that we are stronger than we think.
  • That if we can come together in common cause, then with hard work, time, and conviction we will achieve our goals.
  • We can turn dreams into reality.
  • Individually we are small – together we are stronger than we could possibly imagine.
  • All things are connected – but humans have that added ability to think individually.
  • We need to learn to think individually and act as one for the survival of our species.
  • It’s time to stop thinking about the small things; these will resolve themselves if we focus on that one thing we all desire – to build the best possible future for our species.

Breaking Barriers

Journey #3

In many ways, re-starting regular contemplative “readings” right now is a little strange, and although the topics I am discussing are for the Collective Consciousness of Humanity as a whole, they also sing loudly for me personally. But then – I am a part of the Collective. Just as you are. More than 8 billion threads of life, each contributing to the gigantic tapestry of humanity. Imagine what that would look like from space! How beautiful it must be in its diversity. And its singularity. We must never forget that although we can often feel alone, we are just one tiny – and very essential – piece of the whole pattern.

Sometimes that aloneness can be hard. We forget that outside our own protective bubble, there are others who also feel as if they cannot see past the walls around them. We can feel hemmed in, able to see the unreachable sky, but not able to reach beyond the barriers we have allowed to grow around us.

When we feel like that, we have a choice. There is always a choice, but sometimes it is hard to see. We can sit in our field of choice, surrounded by the high walls that we have either fallen into or allowed to grow around us, or we can do the work we need to get out of that and see what is beyond. We have all the tools we need to dig ourselves out.

The person in this picture is using a sledgehammer to break through the barriers he has around him. Breaking down walls doesn’t have to be so hard if you hit it in the right place, with the right tools and the right mind-set. My personal tools are strength, resilience, belief, trust, and knowledge. I often forget that I hold these tools, especially when I get overwhelmed. Sometimes I need another person to hold me up when it gets hard and remind me that I am not alone.

What tools do you hold?

Healing the Past

Reading Journeys #1

We are all on a life journey and sometimes we can look ahead and wonder what lies around the next corner. Sometimes it’s enough to simply hope we get through the day; but the past is where we often focus most strongly. It is our history. It is our Story. It is what made us who we are now.

Our story has many twists and turns: some good, filled with joy and laughter and sunshine; some not so good. And how often, when we look back through our lives, is it the hard times that stand out most strongly?

What is good to recall is that without those hard times to challenge us, to encourage us to understand Self and see what makes us who we are, we would never have built the strength we need to be able to step into the unknown future.

We are here. We stand in strength and clarity precisely because of the past times we have lived through – the good times and the hard times. And it is that knowledge that helps us stand tall and proud.

Healing the past doesn’t always mean digging deep into the wounds. Sometimes it simply means accepting those wounds as part of who we are.

Working Together

Every week I make a recording for the International Koalition of Krones, and either as stand-alone or as a part of our IKoK bi-monthly Zoom Chats, I share a message from the Animal Kingdom.  I’d like to share this one with you.  You can find links to my work with the IKoK on my website www.aurian.blog

Today I am talking about a Collective Consciousness where the individuals really know about working together.  They are industrious, determined, and strong.  With stamina and patience, together they can build or bring down things that are far greater than they each could as individuals.  They work together for the good of all members of their community.  If one gets inured others will tend to it,  carry his load.  They work diligently.  They understand that they have to put in the hard yakka if they want to succeed. And believe me, they want to succeed and they are successful.  They are the second most prolific creature on this planet.

They have one goal – the ongoing survival and success of their community.  They are social creatures and they know that all things will come with hard work, time and conviction and that they can overcome any obstacle if they all work for that one goal. So they do.  They all work for that one goal – survival of their species.

What animal could I be talking about?  Human?  We certainly have all these attributes – except one.  We too are strong, most of us will work hard at what we need to do to survive as individuals and family groups.  A lot of us will help others who are in need.  We can overcome amazingly hard challenges and we are also social creatures, however, the biggest difference between us and the animals I am talking about, other than physical form, is the one major step that we humans have not yet fully gained in our evolution – we don’t work together for the survival of our species.  We don’t work together for the survival of our home.

The Collective Consciousness of Humanity has almost 8 billion individuals.

The Collective Consciousness of these creatures has an estimated quadrillion individuals.  That is one million trillion.  Way too many zeros for me!  They, not us, could be considered the rulers of this planet.  We humans do not even feature in their society.  We are not on their radar.  They have no idea that we are here.  They inhabit every continent except Antartica.  I am talking about Ants.

I think it’s fair to say that there are very few humans on this planet who do not really dislike ants.  Some folk may have a fascination about how their societies work, but generally we hate them and we fear them.  They invade our homes.  They can EAT our homes!  They get into our kitchen cupboards, our pets drinking bowls, our beds for goodness sake!  They swarm, they try to set up new colonies in the wall behind your sofa – and we wage war on them.  I’ve talked with the other Krones about this, we are all capture-and-release people, but ants and cockroaches?  Well there’s no capture and release for these creatures – they are killed!!!  Swatted.  Sprayed with Tea-Tree oil, boiling water poured over their nest, our homes surrounded with a moat of diatomaceous earth…..

That ability to think individually is our greatest gift and our greatest burden.  I’m pretty sure that ants don’t have “Eureka” moments; I suspect that an individual ant couldn’t think up something as complicated as a motor car.  Or Electricity.  Or the wheel.  It’s probably just as well because if they could – we, humans, probably wouldn’t be here now. Tears

I have been a person easily moved to tears all my life. Many situations move me in such a way, but especially those situations where I feel vulnerable. It is the common belief that such tears are a sign of weakness that has lead many people to belittle me and also, to under-estimate me.

For most of my life I have worked hard not to allow those tears to flow so easily and the result was disastrous – I reached a point where I couldn’t stop them. I had a breakdown 5 years ago.

It’s been a long journey back from that dark place and tears have, many times, lead the way. But these have often been cathartic. A release of emotions too long squished down. The releasing of such emotions eventually allowed me to examine them, to understand why I feel so deeply and to learn to flip almost every situation that previously caused me so many problems. Instead of squishing the emotion, bottling it up until it explodes in tears, I seek the lesson, the joy, the love in each event. That light is always there even though I sometimes have to dig deep to find it.

The result is someone who is (most of the time) standing in her Power. Who understands her strengths – and her weaknesses. Who understands that tears are not a sign of weakness, but are often a sign that there is work to do.

Recently I was talking with someone I hold in especial high regard; we discussed one of the areas where I feel vulnerable and I felt the tears form. There were many choices before me at that time. I could be embarrassed and feel weak for showing these tears and therefore squash them down. I could let them flow and tell myself I was being honest with my emotions, but also aware that if I did that there would be an element of “Poor Me” which is something I abhor. Or I could chose to see the lesson, the compassion and yes, the Love that my vulnerable situation has to show me – the “What is possible from this position?”

From a position of vulnerability there IS a whole heap of possibilities, they just have to be recognised and the work to change that area of vulnerability to be started. Recognition is the first step.
